Construction company Ardmore approached us as part of its work to transform the listed Young’s Brewery site (originally opened in 1533) into a new retail, leisure and residential quarter for Wandsworth. Our works consisted of timber beam ends and truss repairs incorporating structural adhesive and grout. We worked closely with structural engineers and submitted our design for client approval.
Commissioned by the library’s Conservation & Historic Building Officer, ROTS was brought in to undertake essential maintenance and repair work to the library’s historic timber bookstacks. With Bodleian History Faculty Library being one of Europe’s oldest remaining libraries, we sympathetically restored the timber stacks, and structurally reinforced the library’s floor, in order to continue the safe storage of its million+ book stocks.
